NOW and WheelWorks Celebrate 10 Years of Great Work.
NOW and WheelWorks join together to celebrate 10 years. As part of Volunteer Celebration Week (1-7 June, 2011) the NOW Project invited their volunteers, who provide friendship and support to people with learning difficulties, to attend a performance staged by the WheelWorks ArtCart. Tipu Sultan, which tells the story of an 18th century Indian King, featured a vibrant display of drama and dance performed by ArtsEkta young people from both Indian and non-Indian communities, directed by Writer and Director, Peter Morgan Barnes.
Sheelagh Colclough from WheelWorks quoted ‘ArtCart was delighted to work in partnership with the NOW Project to celebrate our ventures which are all about giving people from different backgrounds and cultures the chance to access new experiences and opportunities. In addition, both organisations are celebrating 10 years of providing valuable services to the community, with the promotion of social inclusion, at their core.’ This enchanting performance, which was made possible with support from BBC Children in Need and Artsekta, was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and reflected the strong ethos of cultural diversity that WheelWorks aims to promote.
