NOW trainees show the way in DSD Road Safety Booklet
As part of an ongoing partnership with DSD NOW trainees have been asked to star in a Road Safety Awareness Campaign called "Travel Safe".
In November 2010, Joanne Hudson (Skills Trainer @ NOW) was invited to work along with Gavin Hamilton (Dept. of Regional Development) to refresh the ‘Travel Safe Guide’, produced back in 2005. The guide was designed for adults with learning disabilities to learn about community safety and information on how to travel safely.
On Monday 21st February 2011, they invited three of our trainees (Paula Toal, Jamie Bailie and Stephen McDonald) to feature in a photo shoot on being safe out and about, using buses, trains, etc. that would then feature in the new version of the guide. Although it was a very wet and rainy day they had lots of fun posing for the photos and are looking forward to seeing the finished product, which should be ready for distribution in April.
