Transition Service

NOW has developed an individual and innovative approach that allows students to explore options, gain independence through real life experiences and sample a variety of work placements. We believe that successful transition planning is an important step towards a fulfilled adult life. Our Transition Service offers a tailor-made support network for the individual Transition student and the opportunity to access work experience placements, work tours and training services.

The Transition Service establishes a safe, secure and comfortable environment for the employer and student. Little “tasters” of work experience and work tours can enhance the student's self esteem, confidence, independence and communication skills. This proves invaluable to the student and develops their working relationship with their peers, family and educators as they move through further education and/or vocational training towards employment.

NOW's Transition Service provides a positive and reassuring network between parents-carers, students, schools, Social Services and service providers developing an organic transition for the individual at a very stressful time in their lives.

Our Transition Service helps students develop the skills and knowledge needed to ensure they make a smooth transition from school to:

We aim to raise the students awareness and understanding of what their options are after school and we advisestudents and their carers about the information and options available to them. We hope that this willenable students to participate fully in adult life. We want to empower young people to transition from school to adult life as responsible, contributing young people by maximising their employment potential, increasing their independence, and help developing their life skills.
